July is an amazing month for so many reasons: it’s the heart of summer. It’s the best month for rafting any of the gorgeous rivers just short drives away. It’s the best time to take a plunge in our amazing Boise City pools, and if the heat isn’t your thing, you can head to the mountains for cool evening camping. Also, it’s a great time for Christmas.

What? Yes, Christmas -- you didn’t misread that. And, no, we’re not talking about some hokey “Christmas in July” sale at the furniture store down the road or the local car dealer. There’s something much better than that happening for the first time. We will be at the First Annual Stampede Cowboy Christmas and Cowboy Poetry Gathering on July 18, 19 and 20 at Idaho Horse Park, located at the Ford Idaho Center.

This exciting event brings together cowboy poets, musicians, and performers for three days of action-packed fun. Attendees can enjoy shopping, food trucks, live vendor demonstrations, and so much more! Here is but a sampling of the things that you will be able to do if you go to this wild and fun family friendly event:

Cowboy Styles Fashion Show

Ever wanted to see authentic cowboy clothes on full display on the runway? Here’s your chance! If you are interested in seeing the latest styles and trends in country clothing, then this is the event for you! Catch it on Saturday at 4pm.

Cowboy Hat Decoration/Customization

Do you own a cowboy hat that is just factory stock and looking plain? If so, then you can take it to this exciting session where you can learn how to adorn your hat in a style that is all your own. Sessions take place on the 19th and the 20th.

Cowboy Celebrity Autographs

There will be many cowboy celebrities there to help judge and participate in the Christmas event! Each day, there will be a session where you can line up and get personalized autographs from your favorite cowboy-lebrity. 11am and 3pm on the 18th, 3pm on the 19th, and 1pm on the 20th.

Western Poetry Sessions And Contests

Submit your poems to the cowboy poetry contests or read your creations out loud to the whole crowd. There will be both youth and adult contests and as an added bonus, the cowboy celebrities will be your judges. Don’t want to compete? That’s fine! There will be open mic sessions each day as well. Get your pens and paper ready for a good old fashioned cowboy poetry slam!
