Halloween is great. Some might even call it the best holiday of the year. Your mileage may vary, but the fact of the matter is that your costume is crucial. That is basically what everyone is going to be talking about after the party is over, except for that time when Carl tripped and ended up body slamming the beer pong table on his way down. Don’t be like Carl. Instead, take control of your costume destiny and choose a costume that best suits your awesome beard. While having a beard can definitely limit your costume options, there are plenty of spectacular choices that will have you be remembered as the life of the party for years to come, and not for what Carl did. 

Bob Ross

The man, the myth, the legend, the painter who always puts a little happy tree into the landscape of every party, it’s Bob Ross. Being a dude of the 70’s and 80’s, of course he was not only sporting a classic beard but also a giant afro as well. Seriously, this list doesn’t need to be longer, because showing up to a party as Bob Ross just cannot be topped, but alas, not everyone can pull it off, so let’s look at some more costumes, shall we?

Rick Grimes From The Walking Dead

Yes, the heyday for zombies in American pop culture has come and gone (back to the grave, you could say!) but this hero still lives on. Believe it or not, this show is still on the air and Rick is still leading his ragtag group of zombie apocalypse survivors along with his trusty Colt Python. This costume is great because it is relatively easy to put together and almost everybody will recognize who you are.

Thor From The Avengers

Thor’s beard is literally godly and for us bigger guys, you can even go as “fat Thor” aka the Thor from the latest Avengers film, Endgame. This will be a fun one because you can have contests with your friends to see who is worthy of lifting Thor’s hammer and who can out drink the god of thunder. 

Gordon Freeman from Half Life

“Pick up that can, citizen… and drink it!” Fans of the Half Life series will rejoice as you show up dressed like the most badass scientist turned action hero to ever grace the silver screen. Or you could dress like Half Life 3 and just never show up at all to the party. Bonus: This costume is great if you are just rocking a goatee and not a full beard.

Tormund Giantsbane From Game of Thrones

As we say goodbye to our beloved franchise, 2019 is the perfect year to come dressed as a fan favorite from HBO’s hit series. Tormund Giantsbane is known for being a powerful warrior, stout drinker, and owner of one of the most outlandish beards in all of Westeros.

Jim Hopper From Stranger Things

This one is also as perfectly timely as it is cool. Hopper is truly one of the greats in and among an already great cast. Stranger Things just dropped its wildly popular and critically acclaimed third season this summer so Hopper will be on everybody’s minds. For bonus points you can even go as Hopper in his “date night” attire which consists of a huge bottle of wine and a classy hawaiian shirt like his hero Magnum PI would wear.
