The Best Things About Fall
08/31/2022

Some would say that the best thing about it getting closer to fall is that the weather starts to cool off. Others would say that the best thing about fall is that it’s one season closer to Christmas and all of the fun end of year holidays that come with it. We at Better Man Beard can’t really say what the best thing is about fall because we just love too many things about this time of year. Why narrow it down when you can just enjoy all the fun things? That’s what we’ve done here today. We put together a list of fun activities (and food!) that you can enjoy this fall. Read on to learn more about fun fall activities and leave a comment or two letting us know your favorites or if you think we should add more to our list with your ideas!

Leaf Peeping

Now just what is “leaf peeping,” you might be asking? Well, it is really just a fancy term for getting together with friends and/or family and traveling out into the wilderness to take in the splendor of the colorful leaves of the changing season and to snap a few photographs along the way. It’s also known as a foliage tour or color tour. We recommend going to a few places around town that will be perfect for leaf peeping this fall:

  • All along the Greenbelt, especially near Veterans Park
  • Kathryn Albertson park
  • Camel’s Back park
  • The Botanical Garden

Enjoying Fall Themed Drinks

We enjoy a good fall themed beverage here at Better Man Beard. Yes, it is a yearly punchline but that doesn’t mean that pumpkin spice latte’s aren’t absolutely delicious. Here are a few fall themed drinks that we suggest you try this year.

  • Pumpkin spice latte. We like the ones from Java or Dawson Taylor (or we also recommend the Bowl Of Soul any time of the year)
  • Hot natural apple cider. Williamson’s Orchards sells some of the best hot all natural cider around.
  • Warm hot cocoa. Always in season.
  • Fall themed beers like pumpkin beer, Oktoberfest beers, and big IPA’s. We recommend Spaten’s Oktoberfestbier and Dogfish Head’s Punkin Ale. Big flavor for the season!
  • Hot mulled spiced wine. We love using this recipe and your favorite fruit forward dry red wine.

Host A Chili Cookoff

Who doesn’t have a favorite chili recipe? We love to make (and eat) our traditional chili each year, but what fun is it when you just feed it to your immediate family? Why not share the love? That’s where a chili cookoff comes in. This fall competition is a fun excuse to get a bunch of friends and family together and share in some good, old fashioned county fair style fun. You’ll need to stock up on warming plates for each chili entrant and you will want to have plenty of paper bowls and cups for sampling. As the host you can provide the scorecards and tally up the votes to determine the winner. The prize can be whatever fun thing you’d like to give away each year. It can be anything from a cheap trophy to a gift card to anything in-between. May the best chili win! We recommend throwing in a few extra goodies into the prize bag like fine chocolates, a bottle of wine, and a fall friendly spruce scented beard oil or balm from Better Man Beard.

Conclusion

We hope you enjoyed these fall fun and activity suggestions! No matter what you do this year, we hope you have a wonderful year from Better Man Beard.
