Some Must-Try Breweries Around Boise For Fall Beer Season
08/16/2024

Fall is just around the corner and that means that it’s craft beer season! We love the occasional beer, especially when shared with good friends and family. For today’s article, we’ve put together a list of some of Idaho’s best spots where you can stop off for a delicious pint or two of something incredible that you won’t typically find on the shelves of the big box stores.

Payette Brewing Company

Payette Brewing Company is really the whole package. They have an excellent dining and drinking space and some of the best handcrafted beers on the market not just in Idaho, but in the entire U.S. Their “Sofa King” line of beers are some of the most drinkable, tasty, and refreshing on the market. The fall is the perfect time to stop in with some friends and try their new seasonal selection. Right now, they have an incredible barrel aged imperial stout called “12 Gauge” which unironically packs a punch! We also recommend their authentic German style Oktoberfest lager which is perfect for the fall season.

Woodland Empire Brewery

While the name sounds like a lost novel by Thoreau, Woodland Empire offers many more amenities than a lone cabin in the woods. Their connection to nature and responsible sourcing, however, is something that Mr. Thoreau would appreciate. At Woodland, they are very attuned to using the traditional beer brewing methods and carefully source hops, grains, and spices from local farmers around the valley. For an outstanding brew experience at a convenient place near downtown, we suggest you lift a pint at Woodland Empire.

Mother Earth Brew Co.

This place is always great to find something new to try. Mother Earth usually has over 30 beers on tap at any given time and they rotate their selection monthly. If you have a group of friends that includes beer drinkers and those that prefer something else, then Mother Earth is the place for you. Along with their fantastic selection of locally crafted beers, they also serve hard cider, seltzer, wine, and kombucha. This is a great spot that will please just about any pallet. They are also dog friendly, so bring your furry friends as well!

Barbarian Brewing

This delightful little ale house is very unique. If you love sours and other niche style beers, then this is the place for you. They offer a dazzling array of off the wall beer flavors and mixes that you will fall in love with. Their tagline really says it all: “What kind of beer would a unicorn drink?” Here are some of their great beers on tap:

  • Key Lime Pie Berliner Weisse
    • Made from real key limes! Also includes graham cracker crumbs and milk sugar. If you’ve ever wanted to drink a key lime pie without a blender, then this is your chance
  • Sour Gummy Guys Ale
    • If you want sour, then you’ve got it! This wild draft is brewed with, you guessed it, 75 pounds of Sour Patch Kids candy!
  • Black Flag
    • Drink like a pirate with this one! A barrel aged concoction that is aged in rum barrels and mixed with blackberries. Yarrr!
