Best Brews For the Summer Heat
06/19/2023

Let’s face it. Summer is a time for working hard, playing hard, and beating the heat. When you have had a long day of working or playing in the hot sun, you deserve a chance to cool off with a frosty refreshing beverage and while cold water is nice, if we’re talking cold beverages here, you may as well grab yourself a beer. You deserve it! In today’s article, we’re going to share with you a cheat sheet of some of our favorite cold beers that we like to imbibe in order to beat the summer heat. Here is our list in no particular order. Please hop in the comments or reply to us on social to share your favorites and your reflections on our list. And as always, enjoy responsibly and have an excellent summer.

Honey Orange Tripel By New Belgium (Colorado)

Nothing quite says “summer” like a beer that is citrus forward and light tasting. New Belgium's Honey Orange Tripel has that and then some. It delivers a sweet and citrus tasting flavor but isn’t cloyingly sweet. The finish is refreshing and full of hints of spices thanks to the artisanal African Bronze Honey Company honey in every batch. All of the Seville orange peels are freshly processed and ground 24 hours prior to brewing to ensure maximum flavor and intensity. The beer itself being a true Tripel style craft is a heavy hitter in the ABV arena as well, weighing in at a hefty 10%. All in all, if you’re only looking to have a beer or two after a long day’s work this summer, you could do a lot worse with this one.

Sofa King Sunny Hazy Pale Ale By Payette Brewing Company (Boise)

The “Sofa King” series of brews put out by Idaho’s own Payette Brewing company are fast becoming a benchmark of high quality yet drinkable summer delights. We like to enjoy their Hazy Pale Ale specifically, but all of the beers in the series are fantastic. The ABV 5% beer is crisp as a fall morning and radiates hoppy flavors that shout “summer is here!” Support your local micro breweries and pick this one up when you can, you won’t be disappointed.

208, Idaho's Golden Ale By Grand Teton Brewery (Victor, Idaho)

The name really speaks for itself, but the 208 beer from Grand Teton Brewery is a staggering showcase of Idaho’s excellence in agricultural endeavors. If you’ve ever wanted to shop and support local businesses while also enjoying a delicious product, then look no further than this brew. The beer is not only brewed in Idaho, but it also is created using ingredients sourced only from Idaho farms and businesses, including Idaho hops, barley, and spring water. It is a perfect beer to accompany you on all of your summer adventures or to enjoy while grilling steaks in the back yard with friends. It has a light body and a subtle citrus flavor that is sure to please. The ABV of 4.7% is pretty neat too!
